Only a handful of games were possible in the Evo-Stik League South West on Saturday due to the wet weather, but Salisbury FC made the most of leaders Taunton Town`s inactivity to reduce the gap at the top of the table to five points.
Steve Claridge`s side won 2-1 at mid-table Larkhall Athletic and opened up an eight-point advantage over third-placed Bristol Manor Farm, who were beaten at Didcot Town.
Salisbury took a 23rd minute lead through Owen Howe, but were pegged back 10 minutes later by Matt Britton.
But a goal from Stuart Green with 10 minutes remaining sealed the Whites` win – their seventh in succession.
Didcot moved into fourth place and level on points with Manor Farm after a 2-0 Loop Meadow victory.
Sam Elkins put Diddy in front just before half-time.
And a second 11 minutes from time from George Jeacock made sure the points stayed at home.
Wimborne Town emphatically slipped into sixth spot after a 5-1 home win over Cirencester Town.
It was 2-0 at half-time, thanks to Lee Francis after 32 minutes and jack Lovell 6 minutes later.
Alan Griffin reduced the arrears 5 minutes into the second half, but Luke Burbidge after 65 minutes, a second for Lovell 8 minutes later and Charlie Kendall 9 minutes from time made it a nap hand for the Magpies.
AFC Totton missed the opportunity to join the Magpies in the play-off places when they could only manage a 1-1 draw at Cossham Street against third-bottom Mangotsfield United.
And it was so nearly no points at all after the Mangos led through Kane Simpson`s 20th minute effort until a minute into time added on at the end of the game when Nathaniel Sherborne popped up with the Stags` equaliser.
