Saints await Rebels visit

Tough Test

For the fifth consecutive time in as many weeks, St Neots face a tough Saturday afternoon test against a side higher than themselves in the league table.

Following home matches with Chesham and Tiverton and away trips to Weymouth and Hereford, they are on the road to Slough where they are to play at the refurbished Arbour Park Stadium which boasts a 3G artificial pitch.

Slough moved to their new ground a little over a year ago after a lengthy ground share arrangement at Beaconsfield where St Neots have played the Rebels on each of their three away Premier Division meetings.

That was not been a happy hunting ground because they have failed to record an away victory over Slough although two of the three trips ended in drawn matches.

In fact, when St Neots defeated Slough 3-1 at the Premier Plus Stadium in September it was their only victory over their visitors in seven meetings since the Rebels joined St Neots on promotion in the Premier Division.

Slough’s league progress was held up this season by their impressive run in the FA Cup where they reached the Second Round Proper before being beaten by Rochdale.

As a result, they have fallen behind in their league programme and currently have up to seven games in hand of the five sides ahead of them in the league table and they are only a single point shy of the play-off places.

In the Premier Plus Stadium meeting two goals from Tom Meechan and another from Dion Sembie-Ferris were the catalyst for what was St Neots second home victory of the season.

There will have to be at least one team change on Saturday because Kyron Wiltshire begins his two-match ban having picked up eleven cautions this season, but Liam McDevitt returns to the squad after his suspension.
