Rovers teenager arrives on loan

Forest Green Rovers midfielder Joe Stokes has gone straight into the Slimbridge squad heading to Taunton Town on Tuesday night after joining the EVO-STIK League Southern's Swans on a month's loan.

The 18-year-old central midfielder, pictured shaking hands with Slimbridge chairman Barry Gay following his loan switch only hours before the EVO-STIK League Southern South & West clash, made one appearance for the National League outfit at the end of last season after signing a one year contract at The New Lawn.

Stokes, who kicked off his career with Swindon's academy, was welcomed to Thornhill Park in a club statement announcing the loan deal.

A Swans spokesman said: "SAFC would like to welcome Joe to Thornhill Park and wish him all the best during his time with us."
