Rebels sign big defender

Imposing centre back

Evo-Stik League South Premier promotion-chasers Slough Town have brought in big defender Matt Day on loan from Vanarama National League South side Wealdstone for the remainder of the season.

The imposing centre-back was Bobby’s Wilkinson’s first signing as Stones` boss, bringing him in from former club Hungerford Town at the end of August 2017.

The highly experienced 30-year-old began his career at Portsmouth but didn’t make the breakthrough on the south coast, leaving Fratton Park for Oxford United in 2006.

At Oxford, though, Day enjoyed a successful three-year spell, making seventy-nine League appearances before departing for a short stay at Eastleigh.

Day moved on to Hungerford in 2010 and went on to establish himself as the defensive anchor in Wilkinson’s side over the next five years.
