Preseason shaping up for manager

Kidlington's Julian McCalmon is a happy manager after re-signing a host of players and bringing in three new faces for the 2017-18 EVO-STIK League Southern season.

McCalmon - who welcomed nearly 40 players back for pre-season training last week, pictured, - has signed his brother Eddie Odhiambo from Banbury United, former Didcot Town and Banbury United midfielder Declan Benjamin and central defender Ben Brown after he impressed at Cirencester Town last term.

After guiding the Greens to a midtable finish in his first season at the helm at Yarnton Road, McCalmon also enjoyed seeing the majority of last season's stars commit to the coming campaign at their first training session, skipper Tommy Franklin, Tommy Castle, Jack Quainton, Sam Warrell, Callum Harvey, Elliott Osbourn-Rickets and last season's leading scorer Anaclet Odhiambo all signing on for the 2017-18 EVO-STIK League South West season.

A Greens spokesman said: "McCalmon said he was happy and excited that the players he had spoken to were now able to commit to his vision for the club. There will be more signings of both old and new players as we formulate the squad ahead of this coming season."
