Praise for caring fans and medics

The match was stopped when Dorchester defender Walker, pictured, collided with his own goalkeeper Shane Murphy and United's Yannis Ambriosine in the second half, leaving him requiring urgent treatment on the pitch for a severe whiplash injury to his neck.

Play was held up for over 70 minutes while Dorchester physio Emma Tonkin, Neil Mackie and Hayes & Yeading’s physio team treated the 30-year-old before he was taken away in an ambulance to Wexham Hospital. Thankfully, Walker has since been given the all clear after an x-ray and CT scan.

Dorchester fans, including the player's own brother, hailed their counterparts after the 2-1 win for the Magpies on social media for applauding Walker and singing his name to keep his spirits up before he was loaded into the ambulance.

Dorchester Town thanked their own staff and Hayes & Yeading officially in a statement on their website updating fans on the defender's condition.

The Magpies said: "We all at Dorchester Town Football Club like to sincerely thank club physio Emma Tonkin, Neil Mackie and the Hayes & Yeading physio team for their sterling work ensuring Nathan was well looked after."
