Possibly our best result of the season

Sean McGlead asked Louis Langdown for his thoughts on his sides excellent 3-0 win at Barnstaple Town.

A great result Louis, we are up to fifth, what do you think of the performance?

“The result was all important tonight and not where it took us in the league, for many reasons this is possibly our best result of the season. Factor in that this was the only game played in our league this eve, and the original fixture the only game postponed for a waterlogged pitch, we felt some foul play had occurred in getting us to travel midweek. Their Saturday fixture at home was called off for a waterlogged pitch and it’s rained pretty much non stop since, so Barnstaple have rested and our lads have had 4 away fixtures in 10 days. So for me, and the players, winning here was all important, the league table will take care of itself come the end of the season. What this evening has done is keep our season alive. We couldn’t be any more proud of the learning curve of this side and their ability to carry out the game plan, everyone of this squad is playing their part”.

Did we pick up any injuries?

“Thankfully no. Boze took a heavy whack which resulted in a straight red with seconds of the game remaining and I’m sure he’ll feel it tomorrow morning, but for a 17 year old who must be 8 stone wet through, he’s handling the physical side of the Southern League admirably. Chaz was feeling his hammy’s a bit after running through a mud pit for 65 mins so we made the decision to get him off as a precaution. It was a pitch that took everything out of you, it took all I had to walk across it at the end of the game”.

Your thoughts going into the Kidlington Game?

“Nothing changes from our approach to every game. We are aware of other team strengths and Kidlington will test us for sure, they have a good midfield who can pass and dominate games. We have always tried to concentrate on how we play, on how we approach the game and if we continue to play to our strengths we will get our rewards in most cases. I’m particularly pleased for the form Toby has shown since getting back into the side, wingers are always judged on their attacking play and Toby has been involved in plenty of the goals we have scored of late, and he’s putting a shift in defending too. Also, we are all pleased for Chuggy in opening his goal account and we know set plays can be a strength for us too, we haven’t scored enough from them if i’m honest. But I have no doubt we will moving forward”.
