Parr: Saints won't rush succession

The duo are set to take charge of the club's Tuesday night clash with St Ives Town in the EVO-STIK League Southern's top flight after Davies stood down following his fourth-from-bottom side's 3-0 defeat at Merthyr Town on Saturday.

Saints director of football Iain Parr, pictured, insists the club will avoid any knee-jerk reaction and take their time filling their managerial vacancy as Clarke and Gleeson bid to end a run of eight outings in all competitions without victory in the Huntingdonshire derby.

Parr told fans via the www.huntspost.co.uk on Tuesday: “Non-League football is often very volatile. You only have to look at the number of managers we have had in recent years to see that.

"But now it is essential we have the stability in our management team to complement what is going on behind the scenes at the club. We need to make sure we get the next appointment right and I don’t see any benefit in rushing it.

“Dan and Lee are both capable men who can lead us through the next few games and we’ll go from there in the new year.
“Lee has been working with Andy and is respected by the players, while Dan has been managing at Cambridge City for most of the season. Now they have the opportunity to put their stamp on things.”

Davies, who called time on his reign at the Premier Plus Stadium after taking over as caretaker for the second half of the last season before going on to secure the club's top flight status, is continuing in his full-time role managing the club's academy.
