The Magpies – who hope to move to a new purpose built stadium in the next few years as part of a wider development brief taking place in Wimborne – announced on Tuesday that they were advertising for a successor to Paula Henley following her resignation last week.
Founded in 1878, the EVO-STIK League Southern Division One South & West club won the FA Vase in 1992 and play in front of average home gates of more than 250 at their current home at the W&S Stadium, pictured.
According to the Dorset club, their ideal candidate will possess a combination of an interests with a premium on business acumen and the ambition to take them forward in the short and long term as a community club, both on the pitch and off it commercially.
In a statement on Tuesday advertising the newly vacant post, a spokesman said: “The club is run as a limited company with a board of directors and is now seeking applicants for the role of chairperson following the recent departure of the existing chairperson.
"We provide football every week for hundreds of boys, girls, women and men from the age of four years upwards. We have an army of superb volunteers and helpers who are the life blood of a club such as ours, whilst we have excellent club house facilities, strong commercial support from local businesses and a good standing in the local community and schools.
“A combination of an interest in football, organisational skills and a business brain is the perfect blend but no prior knowledge or support of the club is required and nor for that matter is a love of football. The key is someone who is keen to help and believes they can help move the club forward.”
Potential candidates should send a covering letter with details of their background and CV in confidence to: leemerrifield@aol.com. Alternatively, call 07776 373525 to learn more about the role and its requirements.
