McCool named as new Blues boss

Tony McCool is the new manager of EVO-STIK League Southern Dunstable Town.

McCool, pictured, was unveiled on Wednesday as the successor to Anthony Fontenelle at Creasey Park for the 2017-18 EVO-STIK League Southern Premier Division campaign.

Known for his coaching as well as managerial skills, the former Bradford City and Milton Keynes Dons scout and Luton Town coach was appointed after Fontanelle stood down in May in the wake of the departure of former chairman John McLoughlin.

In a statement announcing his appointment, a Blues spokesman said: "The committee are of the opinion that he has the best interests of the club at heart and is also committed to working within the tight financial constraints in a club now entirely run by its supporters."

Interim chairman Alex Alexandrou also thanked the club's volunteers and supporters for continuing to take the Bedfordshire club forward during the period of transition by rallying behind the Blues in recent weeks.

McCool is set to meet fans at a forum on Friday night from 7pm and Alexandrou said: "Tony brings enthusiasm as well as experience to the club and relishes the challenge that he will face in the Southern Premier Division – we are delighted with the appointment."
