Marksman becomes Stag

By David Simpson

Ex Conference Striker

Prolific marksman Justin Bennett has agreed to join Evo-Stik Southern League West club AFC Totton.

Bennett was recently released by Vanarama National League South side Oxford City.

He signed for the Hoops a year ago from Salisbury FC. Unfortunately, an injury sustained in pre-season ultimately put him out for the season after just one substitute appearance.

Bennett scored over 40 goals in all competitions for the Whites during the 2016/17 season.

He previously spent a lot of time in the National League South with Gosport Borough, scoring well over 250 goals in his time there and becoming their all-time record goalscorer.

He has also featured for Poole Town and Eastleigh previous to his spell at Gosport.

On joining the Stags, Bennett told the club`s official website: “I’m really excited to sign for AFC Totton. It’s obvious to all that they are a club going in the right direction and that’s what made me want to be a part of it. I’m close friends with Adam Wilde and look forward to sharing a changing room with him again, although he will be bossing me about this time, actually not much changes there. And with the Louis Langdon`s background, he will be a great help in getting me back on the pitch. I can’t wait to get going on the 28th June and meet the other lads and I’m hopeful we can all have a successful season
