Mark Molesley disappointed with performance

No excuses

WEYMOUTH manager Mark Molesley admitted he felt a little bit underwhelmed as his heavily-changed side was knocked out of the BigFreeBet.com Challenge Cup last 16 in a 1-0 defeat by Larkhill Athletic at the Bob Lucas Stadium.

The decisive goal came in the 51st minute as Cory Simpson struck from a Joe Tumelty cross.

Molesley said: “I am a little bit underwhelmed if I am honest.

“Obviously there were a lot of changes but still there were some good bits in the first-half, we started brightly made some chances but unfortunately in the second-half we never really got going.

“We are disappointed to lose, we definitely wanted to win the game and we are disappointed that we haven’t done enough to win the game.”

The Terras saw eight changes with Josh Wakefield, Ashley Wells and Will Dennis the only players that remained in the starting line-up from the 1-1 draw at home against Bishop’s Stortford on Saturday.

Molesley explained: “That was the main thing for tonight for us was to get some players back some match fitness and also look at some other players as well.

“It was always going to be a little bit thrown together but the lion’s share of the squad have trained with us so there are no excuses on our part.”
