The Linnets had to dig deep and turned on the style in the second half to see off a plucky Royston Town.
Royston saw the plenty of the ball but didn’t really trouble Alex Street in the home goal only a moment of madness inside the Lynn box caused concern for the home side.
Visiting keeper Joe Welch was called upon to twice deny Ryan Hawkins from distance before a good low save denied Cameron Norman
Three goals in ten second half minutes set Lynn on their way, Michael Gash set the ball rolling on 62 minutes latching onto a pass from Hawkins before firing past Joe Welch to settle the nerves of a few Linnets supporters.
Just minutes later Hawkins got in on the act to double the home sides lead, The wideman unleshing a thumping shot from the angle of the area past Welch after Gash had seen his initial shot well blocked by a covering Royston defender
In the very next attack a foul for dangerous play on Craig Parker inside the area resulted in a penalty which was coolly converted by skipper Michael Clunan for Lynn’s 3rd goal.
But the show belonged to Ryan Hawkins, He finished the night off with yet another fine goal, Curling home into the bottom corner from the edge of the box giving Welch no chance just as the clock ticked 90 minutes.
Match day sponser was ABP (Associated British Ports) who chose Ryan Hawkins as their man of the match.
Man of the match Hawkins spoke after the game and had this to say.
“It’s a good win, Obviously we lost away to these and we knew we owed them one, First half wasn’t great, pitch wasn’t the greatest we had to dig it out first half then we let the football do the talking in the second half.
“We can’t play football all the time,The pitch doesn’t let us do that, The gaffer tells us not to play to much football in our own half, when we get in their half that’s when we work our brilliance, when we’ve got players like Craig Parker, Michael Clunan, Cameron Norman, Frazer Blake-Tracy, Michael Gash and Myself attacking we defiantly know that we can score goals.
