Linnets mark legend's passing

King’s Lynn Town held a minute’s silence to mark the passing of former Linnets player David Brooks before kicking off against EVO-STIK League Southern rivals St Ives in the Buildase FA Trophy on Saturday.

The Linnets remembered their former player at The Walks before their third qualifying round clash after learning of his death in Australia last week at the age of 76.

Mr Brooks, who'd lived in Perth since 1974 and went on to play in the Western Australia League, made more than 500 appearances for the club in the 1960s before emigrating. He is survived by his wife Jean, three children and grandchildren.

In a statement on the club's website, former manager Keith Rudd said: “He was a magnificent midfield dynamo and with Mick Wright together a sight to behold.”
