'Last chance' disciplinary warning

Re-written code of conduct

Steve Castle has warned his players that some of them are walking a disciplinary tightrope which could put their Royston Town careers in jeopardy.

Back in October, manager Castle went to the extraordinary lengths of re-writing the club’s code of conduct following seven red cards in their opening 14 games.

Although disciplinary matters have improved since then, the bad old days returned last Saturday when both striker John Frendo and defender Sam Gaughran were sent off in the defeat at Weymouth.

Castle was particularly aggrieved with Frendo, who was given an early bath for foul and abusive language and dropped him for the midweek defeat at Kings Langley, despite his three-match ban having not yet started.

“It’s reached an unacceptable level and it’s something we’re working on.” He said. “I don’t want to sack anybody, but some of the lads are on their last lives in terms of their careers at Royston
