A Michael Clunan penalty after 25 minutes gave the Linnets the breakthrough and a Cameron Norman strike from the edge of the area after 34 minutes doubled their advantage.
Only the woodwork denied Lynn`s Tom Ward a third goal shortly after the second half started. However, Banbury improved as the half wore on and pulled a goal back on 65 minutes with a Darren Pond header.
The Puritans battled hard for an equaliser which never came and it allowed Kings` Lynn to overhaul Kettering Town at the summit.
