It was just as if the midweek win at Paulton had not happened, as Kidlington’s incisive football put ‘The Field’ to the sword, as they fell apart in the second half. In truth, the scoreline could well have been heavier!
The hosts started well with Ed Weeks powering home a header from a corner after 14 minutes. 1-0.
Even by then Lance Williams had tested keeper George Dorrington with a header and a low drive. However, once ‘The Greens’ had levelled in the 21st minute, with a low drive into the far corner by Anaclet Odhiambo, the signs were not good. George Dorrington never moved as the ball fizzed past him! 1-1.
Seven minutes later, Anaclet Odhiambo was on target again, when he tapped the ball home from close range. 1-2.
The Mangos answer was to pump the ball forward to the hard-working Kane Simpson, but he was on his own, with no support, so his efforts came to nought. One looping cross-shot was just too wide of the far post, and a good break through the middle by Robert Hobbs, was spoilt as his final ball was too far ahead of Simpson.
Mangotsfield had no answer to Kidlington’s clever play and in the 69th minute were even further adrift, again from Duran Martin, who jinked his way into the area, and even surrounded by several defenders, was able to evade a tackle and fire home into the far corner beyond Dorrington. 1-5.
