Jones named as first women's boss

EVO-STIK League Southern Salisbury have appointed the first manager of their new ladies side.

Dan Jones, pictured, was named as the manager of the new Salisbury Women FC this week after the EVO-STIK League Southern South & West's Whites successfully started advertising for players and coaching staff in August.

Jones, who was with FA Women’s Premier League Side Maidenhead Ladies FC before being chosen to help start a new era at The Raymond McEnhill Stadium, is now looking forward to holding a series of trial days with the first one set to kick off on Sunday 6 November.

He said: "I am delighted to be joining Salisbury FC as the manager of the new womens side. It's an exciting venture for the club, one which I hope I can bring success and progression to with the view to increasing the profile of the ladies game in and around Salisbury.

"As a young coach being given this opportunity, I'm over the moon and can't wait to get started and see what level of local talent we have. Hopefully with the help of the club, the staff here and the players we are looking to bring in, I can continue to improve as a coach and in turn, help the ladies coming to the club develop as players."

He added: "The club are looking to build something here, whether that is with the success of the men's side, the development squad or with the inception of the ladies’ side, and I'm happy to be a part of that. I'd like to thank the club and the board for inviting me to get involved and I'm really looking forward to getting things started."

The Whites are looking for sponsors for their women's side. For more information contact Thom Belk via email at: thom@salisburyfc.co.uk. Alternatively, call the club on 01722 776655.
