And the former Godalming Town, Metropolitan Police and Fleet Town left-back has told fans that making the short switch across Hampshire from the latter this week was a "no brainer" after playing previously for the reserves at the Rushmoor Community Stadium.
Hutchings, pictured, said: “I was delighted when I was told Farnborough were interested. Farnborough is a very big club at Non-League level with very good players, staff, an excellent ground and good people behind the scenes so it was a no brainer for me once I spoke to Spencer."
He added: “I want to test myself at the highest level I can so the ambition of the club to push on again this season and not be satisfied with last season’s promotion is massive for me. I want to be a part of getting the club back to where it should be.”
Day, who is urging fans to snap up their 'Early Bird' season ticket offer before it expires on July 1 to help him secure the strongest possible squad, told supporters he was delighted with his latest signing in a club statement announcing the arrival of Hutchings.
Day said: “Nick was undoubtedly one of the best left-backs in the league last season and I’m delighted that another local lad has agreed to join us. He gives me plenty of options both as a left-back and as a left-wing back and adds to the competition in what is looking an excellent squad.”
