Hucker hoping for third time lucky

After frost and then fog ruined his first two chances of making his debut as the new manager of Bridgwater Town in the EVO-STIK League Southern, Phil Hucker is more than ready to complete a full ninety minutes on the touchline on Saturday.

Appointed last Friday as the successor to Craig Laird following his switch to Dorchester Town on New Year’s Day, UEFA B coach Hucker will be hoping for third time lucky for the visit of Winchester City after his new side's trip to Salisbury last weekend was frozen off before Tuesday's clash with Larkhall Athletic was abandoned in the gloom at Fairfax Park with five minutes to play.

Hucker, pictured, has been involved in the game for more than three decades and stepped down as chief scout at Weston-super-Mare to take the hot-seat at the Robins, currently propping up the EVO-STIK League Southern Division One South & West table with just two wins and ten points on the board from 26 outings.

The new Robins boss and former Cheddar and Weston coach knows he has a big task on his hands to quickly restore confidence. A former winner of the Somerset Football Association's Volunteer Coach of the Year accolade for his success in youth football, he is vowing to focus on building a side around local, young talent to generate a dramatic upturn in fortunes over the club's remaining 16 games.
