Hoping the weather plays ball

Frustrating

Andy Peaks is hoping the weather will give AFC Rushden & Diamonds a chance for a run of matches as they eye up promotion in the Evo-Stik South League East.

Diamonds saw Tuesday’s clash with fellow high-fliers AFC Dunstable postponed due to a waterlogged pitch at Hayden Road as they missed a chance to build on last weekend’s 2-0 success at Barton Rovers.

Peaks and his players are now hoping they will get some match action at Hayden Road tomorrow (Saturday) when they take on Aylesbury. “It’s frustrating because we can’t seem to get a run of games going,” the Diamonds boss said.

“But there’s nothing we can do about the weather, all we can do is train well and make sure we are ready for the next game. “That’s what we have done since Christmas really because it has been a bit stop-start.

“Hopefully the weather will hold for the weekend, we will get the game on and we will be looking for another three points. “I think there have been a lot of changes at Aylesbury recently so their team will be a bit different from the last time we played them.
