There were just a couple of games in the Evo-Stik League South Premier on Saturday – both in Hertfordshire.
At Garden Walk, mid-table Royston Town entertained Tiverton Town, who started the day in fifth but could have moved up a place with a win.
However, in the end they were convincingly beaten by an impressive Crows outfit.
The scoreline was even at half time with no goals, although what chances there were fell to the home side, who were unable to capitalise.
But they did break the deadlock in the 57th minute when a quick free-kick from Lee Chappell ended with a sharp, low finish from John Frendo.
The second goal for Royston arrived 8 minutes later as Adam Marriott played a free-kick quickly for Frendo to place his shot past the visiting keeper.
And on 76 minutes, the Crows wrapped up victory when Marriott fired in a superb 25-yard shot.
Not too far away at Top Field, Hitchin Town entertained struggling neighbours Kings Langley and gave their fans a late Christmas present of six goals and sixth place in the table to end 2017.
The crowd of 540 had to wait only 9 minutes for the opener when Connor Vincent broke and got past Kings` keeper Ross Hampton. His effort was cleared by Jorrell Johnson but Charlie Smith followed up to score.
It was 2-0 just 5 minutes before the break when Smith played a through ball for Trey Charles, who chipped Hampton.
Five minutes into the second half it was 3-0 when Jonny McNamara crossed low for Charles to finish off at the back post.
Five minutes later and Charles tucked home number four from a Smith assist to complete his hat-trick.
The nap hand was complete on 69 minutes when a cross to the near post by Charles is met by sub Brett Donnelly, whose lay off finds fellow sub Elliot Bailey to score.
And it became 6-0 in the 82nd minute when Sam Tring was penalised for a high boot on Donnelly and Lucas Kikpatrick converted the resulting penalty.
