Former Bishop's Cleeve captain Kirk Layton has signed for Southern League Division One West rivals Slimbridge.
The two Gloucestershire rivals meet at Thornhill Park on Saturday (3pm), but Layton will not feature as part of an agreement between the clubs.
I messaged Freddy (Ward, manager) to see if he needed any players as I was looking to get back into Southern League football," Layton, 31, said.
It has been good at Malvern, but I needed to play at the highest standard I can as I'm not getting any younger!
"I'd like to thank Freddy for giving me this opportunity and hopefully Slimbridge will see the best of me."
Slimbridge have three other ex-Cleeve players in their squad, Tom Hoskins, Alex Hoyle and player/boss Ward.
