The EVO-STIK League South’s top groundsmen have been honoured at the Football Association's 2017 Groundsmen of the Year Awards.

Salisbury’s Mark Savage, Hereford’s Ben Bowen and Taunton Town’s Kevin Sturmey were congratulated by groundsmen across the national game on Wednesday at St George's Park as the top turf men in the EVO-STIK League South’s three divisions came first, second and third place respectively.

Salisbury’s Mark Savage also scooped overall winner in the national awards at Steps 3/4 for his success on the surface at The Raymond McEnhill Stadium over the 2016-17 campaign.

St Neots Town’s Bob Parr, Biggleswade Town’s Jim Woodward and Bedford Town's Norman Cooley were all highly commended by judges after narrowly missing out on the top honours for the surfaces at their respective grounds.

The EVO-STIK League South’s Vice President John Croft was at the ceremony to congratulate the clubs representing the League, who were also treated to a tour of the state-of-the-art facilities and a presentation from the FA's head groundsman Alan Ferguson before collecting their accolades.
