Evesham United sweating on fitness of defensive pair

Wimbourne next up

Evesham United may have to face Wimborne Town without two of their main central defenders.

Nick Rhodes (hamstring) and Linden Dovey (adductor) were both forced off during Monday's 2-2 home draw with Shortwood United.

Rhodes' own goal gave Shortwood an early lead, but efforts from Adam Mann and Mat Liddiard made it 2-1 to Evesham before Chris Earle earned Paul Meredith's side a point.

Midfielder Ashley Williams is also a doubt for Saturday's trip to Dorset after suffering a suspected broken toe.

Wimborne won at the Jubilee Stadium earlier in the season, hitting back from a goal down to claim a 2-1 victory in September after Archie Haskayne's first Evesham strike had given Paul Collicutt's side the lead.

"I am looking forward to going down there because we always tend to have good games against Wimborne," Collicutt said.

"They try to get the ball down and play."

Evesham go into the game ninth in the table, with Wimborne five points ahead in fourth.

"We have 20 games left so there is a lot of football to be played," Collicutt said.
