Dykes is new first team coach

Former Swindon Town and Lincoln City star Daren Dykes is the new first team coach at EVO-STIK League Southern Kempston Rovers.

The 35-year-old, who turned out in Non-League for Newport Pagnell Town, Buckingham Town, Stotfold, Stony Stratford Town, Rugby Town and Halesowen Town, started work at the EVO-STIK League Southern Division One Central club alongside joint managers Gary Flinn and Jimmy Stoyles last weekend.

After hanging up his playing boots at Newport Pagnell Town in 2013, the former midfielder and forward, pictured, moved into management at the Swans as assistant-manager, a post he stood down from in September after playing a key role in the club's third-placed finish last season behind promoted United Counties League Premier Division champions Rovers.

Walnuts joint-boss Stoyles told the club's fans: "Daren is well known to Gary and myself. Daren’s experience as a professional and playing at Southern League level will add value to the group and management team especially going forward and being more creative."
