Director of footballing doubling up

Yate Town director of football Nigel Hawkins will be doubling up at the EVO-STIK League Southern's Bluebells next season as a first team coach.

Hawkins, who has been hailed for his success with the club's U18s set-up, replaces John Rendell after he left the Jelf Stadium to take over as manager of EVO-STIK League Southern Division One South & West rivals Paulton Rovers nearly two weeks ago.

Manager Paul Britton told supporters he was more than happy to choose a successor who knows the Bluebells inside out, pictured, over a number of potential candidates from outside the club who'd been looking to fill the recently vacated post at Lodge Road.

He said: "To be able to have someone from within the club speaks volumes, his knowledge of the game and the club's set-up will only enhance the backroom staff and improve everyone's game on the pitch."
