Davies, pictured, called time on his reign at the Premier Plus Stadium with Saints sitting one place and a point from safety after their 3-0 defeat at Merthyr Town on Saturday, his side's eighth outing in all competitions without a win.
In a statement announcing his departure, Saints director of football Ian Parr paid tribute to Davies who kept the club up last season after taking over as caretaker for the second half of the EVO-STIK League Southern Premier Division campaign.
Confirming that Davies will continue in his full-time role managing the club's academy, Parr said: “We would like to go on record and thank Andy for all the hard work he has put into the first team both at the backend of last season and for the first half of this season. Andy will now concentrate all of his energy and wealth of knowledge on taking the scholarship and academy programmes forward for the foreseeable future."
Assistant manager Lee Clarke is the leading candidate to take charge of the fourth from bottom Saints for the Huntingdonshire derby at Rowley Park as the club's officials look to appoint a permanent successor to Davies.
