Castle believes a slow start cost his Crows dear last term and was warning against history repeating itself even before promoted Kidlington's Lewis Brownhill grabbed a 90th minute equaliser from the penalty spot in Saturday's 1-1 draw at Garden Walk.
The ex-St Albans manager, pictured, has told his squad he is raising the bar and reckons a better start can see them achieve their ultimate goal of winning promotion from the EVO-STIK League Southern's Central Division.
Castle, whose side are away to Bedford Town on Tuesday night, said: "Promotion is the aim this year. We'd prefer to do it by winning the league. Everyone in the league will be thinking the same thing but what gives us an extra reason is that we've finished in second place in the last two seasons.
"That's a great achievement in itself, but it's not good enough when only one team goes up automatically. We need to go one better, and the lads are really determined to rectify the wrongs of last year."
In an interview with the Cambridge News, he added: "The nucleus of the team is the same and they've been with me for a long while so we can't be doing too much wrong.”
