Biggest game of the season

Application required in every game

SWINDON Supermarine boss Lee Spalding has labelled this evening’s clash with Kidlington as the club’s ‘biggest game of the season’ as they continue to hunt down a Southern League play-off spot.

Spalding, who took over from Dave Webb earlier this year, has guided his Webbswood troops to a six-game unbeaten run after Marine snatched a 2-2 draw at home to Salisbury on Tuesday night.

The games are coming thick and fast for Marine, as they face a trip to mid-table Kidlington before travelling to Bishops Cleeve on Saturday afternoon.

A win tonight could elevate Marine from fifth to third and Spalding wants to see a repeat performance from Tuesday night.

“I thought the way we approached the game on Tuesday, with our intensity and our shape, it was 100 times better than it was on Saturday and I am delighted,” said Spalding, who is unconcerned about fatigue.

“The way the players went about the game was brilliant. We just need to apply ourselves like that in every game until the end of the season.

“I was really pleased. I don’t think the players will find it difficult to maintain the level of performance because they know what is at stake.

“The players realise how tight everything is in the league. It is really important that we carry it on in tonight’s game.
