Experienced manager Terry Brown saw his side beat Bracknell Town 5-3 on Saturday with preparations for the new season well underway.
Last Tuesday, their home friendly against National League Woking was abandoned at half-time due to heavy rain – the visitors were leading 1-0.
So to make up for lost time, the club has arranged to host Spartan South Midlands League Division One club Southall at the Camrose this Tuesday, with entry free for all fans.
After recently becoming a community owned club, boss Brown is hoping to be the surprise package of the Southern League Premier.
He said: “We’re not one of the clubs people have spoken about and I understand the reason for that. We’ve got a squad of younger players not earning very much so it’s not a surprise to me.
“But we ended last season in good fashion and if we can build on that you really never know. We’re looking to improve. If the players can use that momentum then they give themselves a chance. We know we’re not the big hitters and it will be a strong league next year.”
