Weymouth up for a Blues battle

WEYMOUTH assistant-manager Paul Maitland says the Terras are preparing for another battle as they face a Dunstable Town mired in a relegation scrap in the Evo-Stik Southern Premier Division tonight (7.45pm).

The is the third match in a run where Weymouth have five away games out of six matches, beginning with the 0-0 draw with Stratford Town on January 13.

Maitland said: “We will be preparing for another battle because Dunstable are second from bottom but they are absolutely fighting for their lives, all the reports we have had are saying that they are a better side than that suggests.”

Regarding their current spell of away matches, Maitland said: “We are doing our very best for the travel for the players.

Fortunately with our workload through January we have not had to overload the boys too much, it is what it is.”

In the Terras’ last match, Brandon Goodship scored late on to secure a point in a 1-1 draw with King’s Lynn Town after Simon Lappin had taken the lead for the Linnets in the 75th minute.

Meanwhile, Dunstable were beaten 4-0 away to Farnborough, who were 2-0 up inside 12 minutes.

Weymouth travel to a Dunstable side that have one win at home so far this season and have nine points, while Weymouth are in fourth with 57 points but have drawn four of their last five league matches.

Maitland, after the 1-1 draw away at King’s Lynn, said: “We are alright, we have not picked up any fresh injuries so we will be ready to go again tonight, the boys will be looking after themselves in the best possible way between now and then.”
