Steve Castle believes his Royston Town side will come back stronger next season following an impressive first campaign in the Southern Premier.
Saturday’s 4-0 win over Biggleswade Town – in which Adam Marriott bagged a brace, while Lee Chappell and Michael Baulk also netted – kept the Crows in sixth place with two games remaining.
And although they fell well short of the play-offs in the end, Castle’s side have exceeded all expectations following last season’s promotion.
“Our aim now is to finish sixth,” said the Crows boss. “We’re guaranteed to finish sixth to eighth now, which is a good achievement. We’ve not been anywhere near a relegation battle and we’ve been up there competing.
We will learn from the process and come back stronger next season. We won’t need a major overhaul this summer, just a little bit of tinkering. We’re trying to get certain lads to sign up as continuity is massive, and we’ll make one or two key signings.”
