As well as waving goodbye to their unbeaten home league record in EVO-STIK League Southern One South & West at the weekend when they were beaten 2-1 by high-flying Tiverton, the Whites were hit by nasty injuries to two key defenders at the Raymond McEnhill Stadium.
Claridge's day went from bad to worse when former Sholing and Folland Sports centre-back Calum Brockway, who's already had six months on the sidelines, dislocated his shoulder and was stretchered off, pictured, before being taken to hospital. The 23-year-old is now considering his future in the game after it was confirmed he will miss the rest of season.
Fellow defender Steve Walker was then involved in a serious road traffic accident on his way home from the match that left his car a write off. Relieved club officials say the 26-year-old former Dorchester Town and Frome Town player's injuries are not as bad as first feared and have wished both players well in a statement on their website.
A Whites said: "We wish both players well in their recoveries. Calum was allowed home after three hours after the shoulder was put back in but will miss the rest of this season at least. He is now considering his future in the game.
"Steve was involved in a car accident on his way back to his Dorset home and was fortunate to escape with injuries less serious than they could have been with his car a write off."
