Wednesday's Evo-Stik South West Review

By Jack Moore

Slimbridge entertained Yate Town in the Evo-Stik League South West on Wednesday night at Wisloe Road looking to get last Saturday`s 5-3 home battering by Evesham United out of their system.

However, instead, manager Freddy Ward will be desperately concerned over his defence after they conceded another five goals at home – this time against a Bluebells outfit who started the evening in sixteenth place, five points behind the Swans.

But they found Yate in rampant mood, especially in the second half, to record back-to-back wins.

Ben Brooks gave the visitors a 24th minute lead, but Marley Thomas responded within 5 minutes to send the teams into the break all-square.

However, 10 minutes after the interval, Mayson Evans made it 2-1 to the visitors and Slimbridge`s fragile defence went on to concede three more, with Brooks completing his hat-trick in the 73rd and 82nd minutes and Steve Davies wrapping it up with the fifth with 2 minutes remaining.
