Wednesday's Evo-Stik South, East Round-Up

By Jack Moore

AFC Rushden & Diamonds moved into eighth place in the Evo-Stik League South, East following a comfortable 3-0 win at an AFC Dunstable side who started Wednesday evening five points ahead of them in the table.

Diamonds were held to a goalless draw at home by lowly Arlesey Town at the weekend and that followed an Emirates FA Cup exit at the hands of Vanarama National League North side Alfreton Town.

So they were looking to get back to winning ways against a side who had lost to high-flying newcomers Hartley Wintney last Saturday.

Diamonds broke the deadlock at Creasey Park a minute before half-time with a terrific strike from left-back Sam Brown.

The visitors doubled their advantage on 63 minutes when skipper Richard Bunting scored from close range after a cross found its way to him.

And it was 3-0 in the 78th minute when Joel Gyasi finished off a flowing move.
