Webb not pleased..

Kidlington next up.

Swindon Supermarine Manager Dave Webb is expecting his promotion-chasing side not to be suffering from any New Year’s Eve hangovers when they host Kidlington at The Webbs Wood Stadium on New Years Day, kick-off 3pm.

Webb will be looking for a reaction from his side after the hugely disappointing 4-2 away defeat on Boxing Day to Cirencester Town in which his side were never really in the game and lost out to opposition hungrier for the three points.

Visitors Kidlington have made a much improved start to this season in comparison to their debut season last year, having come up from the Hellenic League and sit 12th in the standings with 29 points from their 20 fixtures played so far, having only lost 5 games in total.

Although their most recent form of no victories in four outings would suggest the odds are with Marine, who currently boast the second best home record in the league whilst sitting 5th in the standings on 38 points, with at least one game in hand on rivals above them.

Both sides have strikers in form, with Marine’s Josh Parsons having hit 14 goals in the league, whilst the pace of Kidlington’s Anaclet Odhiambo, having bagged 11, will need to be kept quiet by the home defence if they are to claim three points. Marine will also need to beat their former goalkeeper, Sam Warrell, regarded by many as the best keeper in the league, who has been in fine form this season.

Reflecting back on the Boxing Day defeat at Cirencester, Manager Webb is expecting a much improved effort, attitude and approach from his players, “My players need to show a strong reaction. “Ciren were miles better than us on the day. Only 2 or 3 came out with any credit from the defeat, I’m not happy, it was not good enough.”
