Tuesday's Evo-Stik South East Round-Up

By Jack Moore

Hartley Wintney missed the opportunity to take over from inactive Moneyfields at the top of the Evo-Stik League South, East table on Tuesday night after they were held to a 1-1 draw at Bedford Town.

The visitors had a great start when Liam Eagle put them in front with a 12th minute header.

But the Eagles fought back and eventually equalised on the hour-mark when David Manu shot past Paul Strudley from the edge of the area.

AFC Rushden & Diamonds recovered from last weekend`s disappointing 0-0 draw at home to Egham Town with a 4-2 success at Marlow to move to fifth in the table.

And they had to come back from being an early 9th minute Kelvin Bossman goal down to win.

Ben Farrell equalised 9 minutes later and the same player put Diamonds ahead just 2 minutes later.

And then 5 minutes from the end of normal time, Darryl Smith made it 3-1 to the visitors, and Smith matched Farrell by bagging his brace just 3 minutes later, rendering Calam Gallimore`s reply for Marlow 5 minutes into stoppage time as just a consolation.

Egham followed up that good point at Hayden Road with a 2-0 Runnymede Stadium win over Aylesbury United to move into ninth spot.

Aaron Berry`s early 5th minute opener gave the Sarnies a great start.

But it wasn`t until 5 minutes from time that Matt Stockill made sure with the hosts` second of the night.

The evening`s other game saw Hanwell Town and Cambridge City share a 2-2 draw.

Charlie Mitchell gave the hosts a 31st minute breakthrough that Ollie Snaith cancelled out just before the break.

Ten minutes into the second period, Glen Yala-Bolasie restored Hanwell`s lead.

And then 11 minutes from time, Ryan Sharman popped up with City`s equaliser.
