Tuesday's Evo-Stik South, East Review

By Jack Moore

Focus of attention in Tuesday night`s games in the Evo-Stik League South, East was more on the bottom end than the top.

Bottom-markers Arlesey Town are six points adrift after losing 2-1 at Hanwell Town, who moved up a place to third-bottom, relegating Aylesbury United to second-bottom spot.

Joe Chandiram proved to be Hanwell`s hero on the night at The Powerday Stadium.

He bagged a brace in the 21st and 3oth minutes.

Taylor Rhiney reduced the deficit 16 minutes from time to make it a nervy finale, but the hosts held firm to increase the gap between them.

Barton Rovers, last season`s play-off final runners-up, moved up to seventeenth in the table, level on points but a place below Aylesbury FC after beating the Moles 1-0 at Haywood Way.

What turned out to be the only goal of a nervy game came after just 6 minutes from Ivan Machado.

At the other end of the table, Beaconsfield Town are now fifth after winning 1-0 at the New Eyrie against Bedford Town.

Wes Daly`s 17th minute effort eventually proved enough for the visitors.

Bedford`s neighbours Kempston Rovers moved back above Eagles into ninth after winning a best-of-five encounter with Ashford Town (Middx), who they also moved above, at Hillgrounds.

Two goals in a minute from Josh Crawley gave the Walnut Boys a 2-0 lead by the 10th minute.

Jabir Laraba reduced the arrears just before half-time, and then Will Boye equalised with 20 minutes remaining.

But Jake Newman won it for the hosts in the 81st minute.
