Tuesday's Central Division action review

By David Watters

Histon - eight games without a win - travelled to Love Lane to play Petersfield Town – six games without a victory – in the EVO-STIK League Southern Division One Central on Tuesday night, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

And whoever could take three points would come out as bottom-markers. And it was the Stutes who edged a seven-goal encounter to leave the hosts bottom, although Histon are still some eleven points behind third-bottom Aylesbury FC.

Matt Allan gave the Stutes an early fourth minute lead and with just 10 minutes gone on the clock, Petersfield`s hopes took a blow when they had Nick Awford dismissed for a challenge on Allan deemed worthy of a straight red card.

James Carman double-punished Town with a second goal and two minutes later it was 3-0 with Elkanah Sibanda the scorer. With 32 minutes gone, however, things started to go wrong for Histon when keeper Niall Conroy saw red. Young defender Adam Capel donned the keeper’s gloves but he had little chance with the resulting free-kick from Zach Nicholson-Pibworth.

Will Essai pulled a second back for Town midway through the second half and then Matt Andrews equalised with less than three minutes to go. But almost immediately, Allan popped up with Histon`s winner.

In Tuesday's other game, Farnborough returned to the top of the table on goal difference from Royston Town, who were on FA Trophy replay duty.

However, Boro could only manage a point from a 1-1 draw at the Runnymede Stadium against Egham Town.

Wes Daly gave the Sarnies the lead four minutes after half-time. Sam Shaban equalised with 20 minutes remaining, but Boro weren`t able to find a winner.
