The Football Association's ambassadors since 1905, who count Sir Bobby Charlton as their president, are heading to France to play in three representative fixtures as part of a Great War Memorial Tour and commemoration of the 150th anniversary of Scottish sister club Queens Park.
Like the Middlesex Wanderers, Queens Park have a long and proud history promoting football around the world and fostering fellowship through sport. To mark their milestone, a number of players from north of the border are touring with the Wanderers who will run out in a specially produced 'blue' anniversary strip in one of the three fixtures being played on consecutive days.
The EVO-STIK League Southern - regular contributors to the Wanderers squads since the foundation of the Southern League - will be represented by Chris Moore from Egham Town, Lucas Kilpatrick from Hitchin Town and Slough Town's James Dobson after they were called up with nearly 30 players from the Isthmian League and National League.
As well as playing in scheduled matches against US Boulogne on Friday, SC Amiens on Saturday and AS Marck on Sunday before returning home, the tourists are also visiting three World World One memorial sites to remember the fallen of both clubs in the conflict - Oostaverne Wood Cemetery, Loos en Gohelle and the Thiepval Memorial.
As the Wanderers prepared to set off this week, a spokesman said: "The club have selected a squad across the top leagues of the Non-League game. Chris Moore, Lucas Kilpatrick and James Dobson were all invited to represent the Southern League and we would like to thank all the managers for their support in agreeing to let their players experience representative football at the end of a long season."
