Treble next up for super champions

By David Watters

Hereford manager Peter Beadle will ask his players to go one more time in their county cup final after seeing his side triumph in the EVO-STIK League Southern Division One Championship play-off on Saturday with a penalty shoot-out victory over Royston.

Beadle admitted he'd seen tired legs on show from his EVO-STIK League Southern South & West champions in a 0-0 draw with the champions of Division One Central in the revived 'Champion of Champions' play-off match before they held their nerve in front of 1,852 fans at Edgar Street to win the shoot-out 5-4.

Beadle, whose side host Lads Club on Monday night in the final of HFA County Challenge Cup to complete a unique 'Treble', said: "Both teams have had a long hard season and have been hugely successful in their leagues and I think that showed in the quality a bit today.

"There were lots of endeavour and hard work but a little lack of quality and that showed. We had enough chances to wrap it up and they had one or two themselves.

"Overall though, I think we just about deserved it in the way we played, especially in the second half. It's nice to get another bit of silverware in the cabinet and we're still finishing on a positive."
