Travelling light to Banbury

Injuries blight progress

Martyn Rogers was delighted that a depleted Tiverton Town were able to stage a fine comeback and take Banbury United to a replay in the FA Trophy on Saturday.

The Yellows found themselves 2-0 down at half-time on Saturday, with midfielder Jamie Price having limped off during the game, but came back to draw 2-2 thanks to second-half goals from Owen Howe and Callum Hall

With Michael and Levi Landricombe both missing, Jordan Rogers injured and Liam Gregory departing the club, plus the blow of losing Price during the game, Rogers was pleased with the response his side gave to being behind, and felt they could well have gone on to win the contest on a different day.

He said: "We were obviously missing the two Landricombe boys, which was a bit of a knockback and then we lost Jamie Price in the first half.

"Obviously with Jordan Rogers out injured and Liam Gregory leaving on the Friday, it left us a little bit short, to be fair, but the lads were superb.

"I was delighted with their response at half-time as we didn’t deserve to be 2-0 down and fair play to the players, they knuckled down and we deserved more than what we got but, in the end, I was quite happy to pull it back after being 2-0 down at half-time."

The Yellows now face a Tuesday night trip to the Puritans for a replay and, whilst both Landricombes will be back, Howe and Tom Bath will both be missing.

Indeed, Rogers has estimated that he will have, at the very most, a squad of 13 players to take to the game.
