Town boss Adams upbeat

STRATFORD Town manager Carl Adams was in upbeat mood despite a 4-0 thrashing against Kettering Town on Saturday.

Town were looking to build on a run of three wins in their last four, but they were a comfortable second best on a bitterly cold afternoon at the MoodChimp Stadium.

Brett Solkhon put the Poppies ahead from the spot in the 13th minute and the visitors sealed victory with second-half goals from Michael Richens, Mathew Stevens and Aaron O’Connor.

“I honestly don’t think we played that badly,” said Adams.

“I can’t really remember them, as daft as it sounds, carving us open.

“As stupid as it sounds, we’ve been hammered 4-0, but I don’t feel as if we’ve been hammered for 90 minutes.

“The killer was the penalty. Once they scored that, we were rushing everything, we were anxious, we were shooting from 40 or 50 yards, it was ridiculous. It’s been a bad day at the office, as they say.

“We just have to say they are a better team than us. When you can bring a player like Rene Howe off the bench, a player who is on one of the highest wages in the league.”
