Top job has it's rewards for once!

After handing out the EVO-STIK League Southern's monthly Team of the Month accolades to plenty of others this season, Hitchin Town chairman Terry Barratt was all smiles after being on the receiving end for once!

Elected as the EVO-STIK League Southern's new chairman last summer before the 2016-17 campaign kicked off, he enjoyed doubling up with his Canaries role for the first time this season on Thursday when he collected his club's reward as one of January's performance kings at the league's HQ in Gloucester.

Fittingly, after being named alongside Taunton Town and Royston Town among first trio of winners in 2017, the Canaries chairman is pictured being presented with the club's reward - an engraved cut glass trophy and a 4.5L bottle of Bell's Whisky - by EVO-STIK League Southern director Anthony Hughes, who also multi-tasks as a director of top flight promotion rivals Merthyr Town.

The monthly honours are being sponsored by the Southern League's title sponsors EVO-STIK again this season to recognise and reward the top performers in the EVO-STIK League Southern Premier Division, Division One Central and Division One South & West.

Hitchin Town under manager Mark Burke are up to third in the table and just seven points off current leaders Chippenham Town on the back their performances since the turn of the year and a January when they took nine points from nine on offer, along the way finding the net six times and conceding just twice to keep their place in the pack of clubs chasing the title and automatic promotion.
