The Evo-Stik League South West fixture programme suffered from the rain on Saturday, losing all-bar four of its scheduled games.

Leaders Taunton Town were one of the fortunate ones as they travelled up the M5 to find their game at Yate Town was on, and they moved a massive twelve points clear at the top of the table after a 2-1 win.

The Peacocks extended their unbeaten run to nineteen matches, courtesy of a brace from Shane White.

He opened the scoring with a header from a corner by Ryan Brett after 11 minutes and scored with a stunning 25-yard effort in the 42nd minute.

The win enabled Taunton to avenge their only loss of the season to date by Yate at the Viridor Stadium back in September.

Winchester City moved up to fourth after a 2-0 home win over a Didcot Town side who they leap-frogged in the table.

And this time it was Jamie Barron who scored both, netting in the 48th and 58th minutes to seal victory.

Evesham United could have moved into third place had they won at home to Cirencester Town.

However, United made several individual errors in losing 5-2 to a visiting side who had Louis Spalding sent-off for a second yellow card offence shortly after they had scored their fifth goal 15 minutes from time.

Ben Whitehead netted a hat-trick for Ciren after Henry Spalding had opened the scoring in the 12th minute at the Jubilee Stadium.

Ex-Cirencester skipper Matt Liddiard pulled one back for Evesham just before half-time and, after the dismissal, Liddiard scored his second in the 90th minute, but it was just a consolation.

Wimborne Town moved to within three points of the top six after a 3-1 success at Larkhall Athletic.

Jack Lovell`s goal after 10 minutes for the Magpies was the only one of the opening period, and then Toby Holmes doubled the visitors` lead 10 minutes into the second half.

Holmes made the points virtually safe from the penalty spot just past the hour-mark, with Joe Tumelty matching him for the Larks` consolation 10 minutes later.
