Royston Town, who have surprised many in their first season in the Evo-Stik League South Premier, have pulled off something of a coup with the signing of defender Sam Gaughran.
The 27-year-old somewhat surprisingly left league leaders King`s Lynn Town at the start of the month.
He had re-signed for the Linnets in the summer of 2015 and helped Ian Culverhouse’s team mount a promotion push this term.
The former Norwich City and Peterborough United trainee, played for the Linnets as a teenager.
He made 118 appearances, scoring 5 goals.
Gaughran, a coach for League One club Peterborough’s academy, previously made ninety-three appearances for Lowestoft Town and captained the Linnets on several occasions.
