Striker Comes Back To Haunt City

Back-to-back defeats have condemned Cambridge City to finishing either fifth or sixth in the Evo-Stik League South East, scuppering their hopes of a home tie in the play-off semi-finals.

And ironically, it was a former player in striker Andrew Phillips who came back to haunt City on Monday night when he grabbed a 90th minute winner for Barton Rovers to lift them off second-bottom spot.

Marlow won 2-1 at Honeycroft against Uxbridge in the evening`s other game where Charlie Brown after 21 minutes and Kelvin Bossman just past the hour-mark for the visitors proved enough, despite Cole Brown`s 72nd minute reply for the Reds.

Hitchin Town and Dorchester Town shared a 0-0 draw at Top Field in the evening`s only Premier fixture.
