Sky's hardly the limit for Kane!

Hitchin Town's sought-after star Kane Smith is hoping to miss the upcoming EVO-STIK League Southern season after going on trial at Coventry City on Saturday.

After trials with Crystal Palace and West Brom last season and three weeks at Shrewsbury Town earlier this summer, the versatile wing-back, pictured, is hoping the Sky Blues will make his dreams come true after joining the League One club at the weekend.

The 20-year-old - one of Hitchin’s stand-out players since joining the Canaries from Biggleswade Town in December 2015 - attracted a host of interest last season impressing for Mark Burke's play-off-bound side.

As well as Palace, West Brom, Bristol City, Brighton and Reading all sent scouts to watch him in EVO-STIK League Southern top flight action at Top Field. Sunderland, Sheffield Wednesday, Charlton and Ipswich were also reported to have shown interest in him.

A product of the Luton Town academy and initially signed as a midfielder, the defender, who made 69 appearances for Hitchin and scored six goals, would command a fee as he is under contract.
