Saturday's Premier Division Round-Up

By Jack Moore

A ding-dong battle at the Rushmoor Community Stadium saw Kettering Town earn a lasp-gasp win against Farnborough and move back to the top of the Evo-Stik League South Premier table on Saturday.

With Slough Town on Emirates FA Cup duty and King`s Lynn Town beaten at home by Chesham United, the Poppies are now two points clear after a 4-3 win.

The visitors were seemingly coasting with goals from Rhys Hoenes after just 2 minutes, Gary Mulligan after 13 minutes and Ben Toseland 8 minutes before half-time.

Connor Calcutt reduced the deficit 9 minutes after the break and then Jack Barton made it 2-3 in the 63rd minute.

Veteran striker Jamie Cureton looked as though he`d earned a point for Boro when he equalised as stoppage time ticked in.

However, in the 6th minute of added time, Matt Stevens popped up with Kettering`s winner.

King`s Lynn were shocked at The Walks in front of 648 as a goal 10 minutes from time from Giuseppe Iaciofano earned Chesham all three points.

And to complete a good day all-round for Kettering, fifth-placed Weymouth also lost 3-1 at Top Field against Hitchin Town.

In front of 453, Brett Donnelly gave the Canaries the boost of an early 6th minute lead that Charlie Davis cancelled out right on the stroke of half-time.

But just 4 minutes after the interval, Elliot Bailey restored Hitchin`s lead and within 2 minutes the same player made it 3-1 – a scoreline that the Terras were unable to recover from.

Tiverton Town re now sixth after winning 2-1 at Banbury United.

It was the Puritans who broke the deadlock 10 minutes into the second half when Matt Peake-Pijnen shot from a narrow angle past Tivvy `keeper Martin Rice.

But goals from Levi Landricombe on 72 minutes and Owen Howe 10 minutes later turned matters around and earned Tiverton the points.

The bottom two both lost again.

Gosport Borough remain win-less in sixteen now after a 1-0 home defeat to St Neots Town, for whom Dylan Williams` 12th minute penalty proved enough in the end.

Dunstable Town also lost at home, 2-1 to Frome Town, who are now ninth after goals from Ben Morgan after 8 minutes and Ollie Knight 16 minutes from time outgunned Andrew Osei-Bonsu`s stoppage time reply for the Duns.

Dorchester Town left it very late before earning victory at the Avenue Stadium against Biggleswade Town.

Recent arrival Callum Rose gave the Magpies the lead 2 minutes before the break.

The Waders equalised 12 minutes from time through Tony Burnett and looked like taking a point back on their long journey home – until Sam Lanahan popped up with a winner 3 minutes into stoppage time.

There was late drama too at Redditch United, whose Kevin Da Veiga Monteiro had looked like he`d won it for the hosts with an 83rd minute goal.

But visiting Merthyr Town grabbed a point with an 89th minute Kyle Copp equaliser.

It was a similar and even later tale at Kings Langley, who led Basingstoke Town from the 39th minute, courtesy of Brendan Ocran`s effort.

But Terry Brown`s side levelled with an added-on time penalty from Ben Wright.

The day`s other game saw Stratford Town run out 3-1 home winners over Bishop`s Stortford.

The home side led at the break, thanks to Will Grocott`s 34th minute penalty.

Eli Bako added a second in the 70th minute and 5 minutes later it was game over with a third for Ben Stephens.

Callum Taylor netted an 86th minute consolation for the Blues.
